The short version

Asking on AbegNa comes down to three things.

  1. 1

    Post your request

Say what you need and why. You get your own link right away.

  2. 2

    Share it

Send it to family, friends and your WhatsApp groups. Strangers can find it on AbegNa too.

  3. 3

    Verify and withdraw

Check your ID once, then withdraw to a bank account in your own name.

What you need before you start

Have these ready and posting takes about five minutes.

A phone number

We send a 6 digit code to confirm it when you post.

Your state and city

So people near you can find your request first.

A photo

Of you, the bill or the receipt. A clear photo of the bill helps a lot.

Your story

At least 150 characters. See how to write it.

A voice note, if you like

Up to 15 seconds. Hearing you helps people trust you.

Your BVN or NIN, later

Only when you withdraw. Not needed to post.

Post your request in five steps

This is exactly what you will see in the app.

  1. Tell us about you

Your first name, your state and your city. Only your first name shows on the request, and givers near you see it first.

  2. Say what you need

Pick the need, like rent, school fees, a hospital bill or medication, and the amount, from ₦2,000 to ₦100,000. You can snap your bill and we suggest the need and the amount for you.

  3. Tell your story

Write at least 150 characters, about three sentences: who you are, what happened, what the money will pay for and the day you need it. You can add a voice note of up to 15 seconds.

  4. Add a photo

At least one photo of you, the bill or the receipt, up to three. You can also write a short thank you that every giver sees the moment they give.

  5. Check it and post

See your request the way givers will see it, then confirm your phone number with a 6 digit code. Your request gets its own link straight away.

Getting verified and getting paid

Verification protects the people who give to you. You do it once, before your first withdrawal.

Gifts are held

What people give waits safely in your AbegNa balance until you are verified.

ID check

We check your BVN or NIN.

Live selfie

A quick selfie that must match the photo on your ID.

Your own account

Withdraw to a Nigerian bank account in your own name, through Paystack. ₦100 flat per withdrawal.

What makes a request work

No trick, just what helps a stranger say yes.

Be exact

Ask for a real amount

“₦14,500 for one month of drugs” is easier to give to than a round number with no reason.
Show it

Add the bill

A photo of the hospital bill, school invoice or quit notice shows the need is real. See what you can ask for.
Be yourself

Tell it in your own words

Short and true beats long and polished. Your voice note helps people feel they know you. Read example stories.
Share early

Start with your people

Family, friends, church, mosque and WhatsApp groups are where most help starts. Get messages you can send.

Questions people ask

Is AbegNa a loan app?
No. Everything you receive on AbegNa is a gift. There is no interest, no repayment and no credit check.
How much can I ask for?
From ₦2,000 to ₦100,000 per request. Ask for what the need really costs. A clear, exact amount is easier for people to give to.
Do I need a bank account to post a request?
No. You post with your phone number. You add a bank account in your own name only when you are ready to withdraw.
What does it cost to ask?
Asking is free and AbegNa takes 0% of every gift. When you withdraw, there is a flat ₦100 fee, or ₦250 if you choose an instant withdrawal.
Why do I have to verify before I withdraw?
So givers know the money reaches a real person. Before your first withdrawal we check your BVN or NIN and take a live selfie that must match your ID. Until then, gifts are held safely for you.
What if I do not reach my full amount?
You keep what people give, even if you do not reach the full amount.
Will my request go live straight away?
Most requests go live once you post. Some are checked by a person first, usually within a day, and we tell you the moment yours is live.
Can I raise money for someone else?
AbegNa is built for people asking for their own need, because the money is paid only into a bank account in the verified asker’s own name. If someone you know needs help, help them post their own request.
